Renovation & Extension

This project involves the Harris family, consisting of clients David and Kim, who have two children aged 8 and 12. Their current residence on the property no longer meets the needs of their expanding family. They have expressed a desire for an extension that will accommodate the anticipated changes as their children enter their teenage years.

The vision for the extension encompasses the following key elements:
- A carport designed to accommodate two vehicles, alongside a small workshop and storage area.
- A parents' retreat featuring a spacious ensuite, bathtub, Jack and Jill basins, a master bedroom, a separate WC, and a walk-in wardrobe with proper ventilation.
- Two double bedrooms for the children, each equipped with built-in wardrobes.
- A conveniently located laundry in proximity to the kitchen, with a screened clothesline.
- A privacy screen along the front deck facing the roadside, complete with an outdoor kitchen and furnishings for entertaining.

Additionally, the clients desire an open-plan layout that enhances the connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces. They prefer a contemporary design that maximizes natural light within a lightweight construction. The incorporation of exposed rafters or decorative trusses in the new extension is also of interest to them.
